Education is a Priority at Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society

Here at Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society(SVGS), we are committed to genealogy education. Toward this endeavor, we have guest speakers at most of our monthly meetings. Some of the topics I have been privileged to hear were: Free and Low-Cost Case Law Research presented by Kim Ositis, Reference Librarian at the Public Law Library of King county; Telling Stories with DNA: Genetic Genealogy Basics presented by CeCe Moore, Genetic Genealogist; Stretch Your Genealogy Dollar presented by Flynn Clarke Kennedy, Education Chair, SVGS; Tennessee Research and Beginning Over both presented by Laura Pemberton Sparr, past president of the Washington State Genealogical Society.  I learned something new and valuable from each that I could utilize in my own research.

At our June 14th meeting Laura Pemberton Sparr will return, by popular request, to give a presentation on Pennsylvania Research. When Laura speaks, she usually shares resources and strategies that are universal and so I am sure everyone, even those who do not have Pennsylvania ancestors, will come away with some resource or tool to help them further their quest to find their ancestors. I hope that you will be able to join us for this presentation.  Our meetings are held at Hadley Hall, Arlington Boys and Girls Club, 18513 59th Ave NE, Arlington, WA  – Meeting Time 1pm.
