Fun at the Washington State Genealogy Conference

Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society Secretary, Michele Cozad, wrote about her experience at the Washington State Genealogy Conference last week…

Event was held in Tacoma Fri/Sat June 17 & 18 and was vendor table at Washington State Conference represented by SVGS President Ruth Caesar, Secretary Michele Cozad and newly elected NwGC2017 Co-Chair Lisa Bartlow. The road trip started Friday afternoon and we checked into the LaQuinta Inn and attended the Friday night dessert buffet (yum)…Cyndi Ingle and Paula Stuart-Warren lead an informal Q&A session (and I thought I was the only one who hit “brick walls”!) … what fun we all had listening to like minded genealogists with their inventive ways to find the answers to problems who have been plaguing them for years…lots of hints for us to share. SVGS had a vendor table at the event where we displayed our beautiful banner touting our upcoming Northwest Genealogy Conference to be held Aug 17-20 at the gorgeous Byrnes Performing Arts Center at the Arlington High School. Ruth was able to address the entire 150 patrons who attended and personally invited them to our event. Our registration forms were made available along with the table toppers (which were snatched up by attendees – yea!)… SVGS members Kathy Bowman (Newsletter Chair & NwGC2016 Assistant Conference Chair) and Michele Cozad (SVGS & NwGC Secretary were acknowledged by WSGS for being outstanding volunteers. To top off my great day my name was drawn as one of the winners of the Door Prizes – a one year World Explorer membership to Ancestry! I didn’t think things could get better – WRONG…my raffle ticket for the “Made in Washington” gift basket was drawn. I was thinking of sharing but the Lavender Honey, Rainier Rising Rustic Italian Coffee from Vashon Island Roasters, Walla-Walla Onion Mustard & Washington State Mints, smoked salmon, etc were all – enjoyed by me (and of course my family) … what fun we all had!
