Monthly Meetings

100_1389

As a society, part of our mission statement is as follows:

To promote an interest in genealogy through education; to instruct members in genealogical research and preservation of their own family histories.

One of the ways we work to accomplish this mission is by inviting speakers to our monthly meetings that can help us in some aspect of our research.  This month’s speaker was our own Leilani Lucrisia, who shared the ABC’s of DNA. She taught us about the major DNA tests available and what information they offer as well as gave us other resources where we can learn more about DNA research.  Thank you Leilani for sharing your knowledge with us!  We had a wonderful turnout for this presentation and hope that we will for future presentations.

December’s meeting will be Tuesday the 13th at noon at the Stillaguamish Room at 154 Cox Ave, Haller Park, Arlington, WA, and will be our annual holiday potluck lunch at noon.  Plan to bring a hot dish, salad, side dish, or dessert and partake in the fellowship of genealogy minded folks.  We look forward to seeing you!

Stay tuned for upcoming meeting topics, some of our future speakers will include:

Representative from the Stanwood Library (subject TBD)

Jim Johnson from Heritage Quest: Mayflower Ancestors

Karin Coppernol: (Subject TBD)

Mary Roddy: Newspaper Research

More information will come on these meetings as it is available.

Happy Learning!
